EMPOWERMENT AND LEGAL RIGHTS OF WOMEN
Saveetha School of Law conducted a webinar on EMPOWERMENT AND LEGAL RIGHTS OF WOMEN on 14.03.2021. The resource person was Renugadevi. M, a practicing Advocate in Chennai, having bar experience for more than 35 years. She has done stellar work in handling cases specially has appeared for many cases involving women to mention a few property rights, maintenance, cruelty, domestic violence etc. She has handled cases for TNHB, Telephones, Banks etc. She is well known for counseling and settling cases of Women prisoners in Central Prison, Puzhal through the Taluk Legal services Committee. The webinar focused on the overview of women rights . The resource person highlighted the struggles and the hurdles for women empowerment in India . She even cited important incidents and judgements which paved the way for women empowerment. She discussed the recent amendments in women centric laws which was more interesting. The resource person focused on the history of women development in the political sector and in collaborative impact on all other fields. She even cited the recent changes made in women rights to property by a supreme court judgement. The session was interactive and the students actively participated in the webinar by imposing questions relating to women empowerment in the political sector . The webinar was different and interesting.
