National Seminar on “Addressing Tax Crimes and Strengthening Compliance under the New Income Tax Act and Union Budget 2026”
The Department of Management and the Department of Humanities, Saveetha School of Law, successfully organized a National Seminar on “Addressing Tax Crimes and Strengthening Compliance under the New Income Tax Act and Union Budget 2026” on 17th February 2026 at Saveetha School of Law.
The seminar featured three distinguished speakers who shared valuable insights from academic and professional perspectives. Shri.Ramachandran,C.A,C.M.A,C.S Chartered Accountant, delivered a comprehensive session on tax compliance frameworks and practical challenges in preventing tax evasion. He highlighted the importance of transparency, proper documentation, and responsible financial practices in strengthening the tax system. Ms. Ramya S. R., Assistant Professor, The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Chennai, addressed the legal dimensions of tax crimes, focusing on statutory provisions, judicial interpretations, and the evolving enforcement mechanisms under the new tax regime. Dr. A. Suganthini, Assistant Professor, School of Law, VISTAS, Pallavaram, discussed policy reforms introduced through the Union Budget 2026 and emphasized the shift from traditional enforcement methods to technology-driven compliance strategies such as data analytics, digital tracking, and taxpayer-friendly initiatives.
The seminar was conducted under the guidance of Dr. N.M. Veeraiyan, Founder and Chancellor, SIMATS, and under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Asha Sundaram, Principal, Saveetha School of Law. The programme was convened by Dr. K. Kirubagaran (Research Supervisor) and Dr.E.Venugopal (Co-Research Supervisor). The event received valuable support from faculty coordinators Dr.Bhuvaneswari, Dr. Murugan Ramu, Dr. Kamalakannan, and Dr. Jayaprabha. The overall coordination of the seminar was effectively managed by Ph.D. Scholar Mr.M.Dhinesh, along with Student Coordinators Mr. Dhaneswar and Mr. Kiruthik Prasanna.
