International Conference on "Artificial Intelligence, Law, Policy and Governance: Shaping the Future of Justice and Regulation

Saveetha School of Law, in collaboration with the Centre for Criminal Justice Research (CCJR), organised an International Conference on "Artificial Intelligence, Law, Policy and Governance: Shaping the Future of Justice and Regulation" on 16 September 2026 at the MBA Auditorium, Saveetha School of Law, Chennai.

The event commenced with a Welcome Address by Ms. Rini Adiyattil, Assistant Professor, Research Scholar and Conference Secretary, followed by a panel discussion on "Generative AI in Legal Education: Innovation, Integrity and the Future of Law Teaching," moderated by Dr. Ajoy Jose, with Dr. P. S. Radha Jayasheela and Mr. Abraham S. as panelists. The discussion examined how generative AI tools are reshaping legal education, the challenges they pose to academic integrity and assessment, and their broader implications for the future of law teaching.

The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Sunimal Mendis, Assistant Professor in Intellectual Property Law, Tilburg Institute for Law, Technology, and Society (TILT), offering scholarly perspectives on the intersection of law, technology and regulation.

The Technical Sessions comprised approximately 105 research paper presentations across online and offline modes, evaluated by respective session chairs on themes spanning legal, technological, policy and regulatory dimensions.

A Special Address by Ms. Tharusha Selvanambi, Senior Associate, JSA Advocates & Solicitors, brought a practitioner's perspective to the proceedings. The conference concluded with the Valedictory Address by Ms. Shreeppriya Gopalakrishnan, Senior Policy Architect, Award Distribution to delegates, and a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Aswathy Prakash G, Associate Professor, centre head CCJR.

The conference provided a valuable platform for scholarly exchange on the evolving relationship between artificial intelligence, law, policy and governance.
