Femme Fest 2K25 - Celebrating Feminine Freedom (Part II)
The second edition of Femme Fest 2K25, organized by the Women’s Rights and Empowerment Cell (WREC) of Saveetha School of Law, commenced with a grand inaugural ceremony on March 8, 2025. The event was inaugurated by Hon’ble Mr. Justice D. Krishnakumar, Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court, who delivered a keynote address emphasizing the crucial role of legal awareness and gender equality in building an inclusive society. Dr. N. M. Veeraiyan, Founder & Chancellor of SIMATS, presided over the ceremony and encouraged students to continue championing women’s rights through academic and social initiatives. Prof. Dr. Asha Sundaram, Principal of Saveetha School of Law, welcomed the dignitaries and highlighted the importance of nurturing leadership among women. The ceremony also featured cultural performances that set an inspiring tone for the day-long celebration.

The festival coincided with International Women’s Day, embodying the theme: “For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.” The day-long event featured three thematic sessions - Spotlight Spectacle, Eternal Feminine: Tales from the Epics, and Runway Rhapsody: The Fusion, each highlighting different dimensions of women’s empowerment, creativity, and resilience. The sessions combined interactive talks, performances, and showcases by prominent women leaders from diverse professional backgrounds.
Key Sessions and Highlights
1. Spotlight Spectacle
The Spotlight Spectacle opened the festival with an energetic display of talent and inspiring narratives. It featured variety performances interspersed with keynote interactions from women leaders across industries including entrepreneurship, corporate leadership, social activism, and healthcare.
Speakers included: Mrs. Kayalvizhi (CEO, Essential Traditions), Mrs. Sujatha Yarnagula (Managing Director, Donracks TMTE Metal Tech Pvt. Ltd.), Dr. ATS Anna Poorani (Chairman, RP Cattle Fields), Ms. Keshika Manohar (Entrepreneur and Animal Activist), Dr. Nishaa R Srinivas (Dermatologist & Founder of Anlon Skin and Aesthetics), Ms. Vincy Eaphan (Founder, Turquoise Media & V16 Café), and Ms. Sai Sruthi Penubolu (ASM, Hindustan Unilever Ltd). Their discussions revolved around breaking barriers, preserving cultural values, leveraging modern platforms for advocacy, and fostering leadership among women.
2. Eternal Feminine: Tales from the Epics
This session celebrated the timeless strength of women in mythology and history through classical dance, storytelling, and discussions. Personalities such as Mrs. Kamala Rani Aruchamy, Ms. Rehana Basheer, Mrs. Ramya Suresh, Dr. Republica Sridhar, Ms. Sai Pavi, Mrs. Rajendra Stella Isabelle, and Ms. Sneha brought to life legendary female figures, linking their resilience and leadership qualities to modern contexts in parenting, fashion, media, and corporate governance. Performances included solo classical dances portraying epic heroines like Draupadi, Sita, and Kannagi, which captivated the audience with their powerful narratives.
3. Runway Rhapsody: The Fusion
Runway Rhapsody concluded the festival with a fashion showcase inspired by “The Five Elements” - earth, water, fire, air, and space. Teams creatively combined traditional aesthetics with modern feminist narratives, using costumes and ramp choreography to symbolize harmony and strength. The judging panel included Major Gugamalathy A (Administrative Officer, 1TN Girls BN, NCC Chennai), Mrs. Parimaladevi (Deputy Superintendent of Police, Technical), Mrs. Vishnupriya Ganesh (Senior Revenue Inspector, Thiruvallur), and Ms. Amudha (Judicial Magistrate No.1, Poonamallee District Court). The fusion of fashion and storytelling transformed the ramp into a stage for empowerment and diversity.
Femme Fest 2K25 concluded on a high note, offering students and attendees a memorable celebration of womanhood. Each session provided unique insights into empowerment, resilience, and creativity, while performances bridged tradition and modernity. The event inspired participants to envision a world where women lead change across industries and communities, staying true to its theme of Rights, Equality, and Empowerment for all women and girls.
