Conference on “Weaving Rights: Rethinking Intellectual Property in the Fashion Industry”

On April 29, 2025, Saveetha School of Law’s Department of Intellectual Property Rights hosted “Weaving Rights: Rethinking Intellectual Property in the Fashion Industry.” Mr. Vinoth Nagarajan highlighted legal gaps in fashion IP, Advocate Rohit Magesh spoke on piracy and enforcement, Ms. Nadia Otto emphasized artisan collaboration and ethical fashion, and Ms. Bagya Lakshmi Senthil addressed GI challenges in traditional weaving. Twenty student teams presented papers, with awards recognizing excellence. The conference advocated for inclusive, culturally aware intellectual property reforms.
