The forensic psychology in forensic science
A webinar was conducted on 03/05/2021 on ‘Forensic Psychology in Forensic Science’. The speaker was Ms. Durga Sekar who is practising as a forensic psychologist and signature analyst and is also trained in hypnotherapy. She is a member of AIESEC Global. She enlightened the students by discussing about the various aspects of forensic psychology and the techniques involved in the process. She started the session with a brief introduction of forensic psychology. It refers to the study of the relationship between human psychology and the criminal justice system. This is a broad definition of the term, allocating room for research and academic study of psychology and law; the narrow definition refers to the professional psychological assessment of an individual who is currently participating in a legal process. This was very clearly explained using examples. In addition, she discussed about assessment tools used to understand a person’s state of mind during crime, their ability to stand trial and witness credibility.
