Dr. Chandrasekhar, Assistant Professor and Dr. Karthikeyan, Associate Professor at Saveetha School of Law, were the distinguished speakers for the session. Dr. Karthikeyan commenced the session by interacting with the students and shared the relevance of designating a special day for children caught in the midst of armed conflicts. The speaker walked the audience through the various types of aggression and UN conventions’ definitions of aggression and abuse against children. He explained the difference between physical, mental, emotional and sexual abuses these children have to undergo with real time examples. The second speaker, Dr. Chandrasekhar highlighted the importance of early detection of child abuse  and talked in length about the importance of understanding these cues for helping the children from sexual abuse, especially in the family context where the preparator is known to the child. He emphasised that parents, guardians or teachers should believe the child and encourage the children to talk with them about anything that concerns their safety and well being. He additionally suggested valuable tips to parents to detect and prevent abuse against their children, such as being involved in the child's activities, teaching them about good and bad touches and most importantly listening seriously and sensitively to what children are saying to them.
