Medical Jurisprudence: An Indian Law perspective
A webinar on ‘Understanding Medical Jurisprudence from an Indian Perspective’ was held on 8th December 2020. Dr.G.Pramod Roshan, doctor in charge of the Intensive Care Unit at Saveetha Medical College and Hospital was the resource person. Dr. Pramod first explained the role of medical science in legal issues and how it can aid in solving many criminal cases. This was done by briefing autopsy procedure and highlighting various branches of forensics. This was followed by giving an overview of Indian legislations dealing with expert witnesses, medical evidences and the complexity of accident and suicide cases. The session was insightful and dynamic as the resource person discussed practical illustrations and cases. Furthermore, the legal implications of medical negligence were also discussed.
