FOOD SAFETY

The webinar on Food Safety and Food Adulteration organised on 14th March 2021 was intendedto provide the students an overview of Indian regulatory system on food safety an food adulteration in India. The resource person, Ms. Rajani, a practising dietitian, started with a historical overview of food adulteration and food safety as emerging from different national and international legal instruments. After a detailed overview of the Indian laws in this regard, she gave practical examples of adulteration in different sectors in general and with respect to the spices in particular followed by the measures used by the department of food safety to address such issues.
