Legal Awareness Camp on child abuse
A legal awareness camp on child abuse has been conducted by Saveetha School of Law, Department of labour law on 21.02.2023. The faculty coordinators of this camp are Mrs. J. Gayathri, Assistant Professor and Mrs. P. Priyanka, Assistant Professor. The legal awareness camp was conducted in ADW High school, Pungathur, Thiruvallur district. Students studying in grade 7,8 and 9 had participated in this awareness program. Students of Saveetha School of Law performed a skit on how harassment is happening in public places and how it should be prevented. Awareness about the legal aids available for victims of child abuse was also give by the students. The school students were given an idea of the different aspects of child abuse. The students of Saveetha School of Law also had an interactive session with the school students to help them understand about the legal aspects of child abuse. This initiative of Saveetha School of Law was highly appreciated by the school’s Headmaster Mr. Nagarajan. Ms. Arulmani, a teacher in the school, said that the awareness camp was effective in making the school students be aware of the legal aids available to them. Mr. Chelladurai, mathematics teacher, appreciated that the idea of performing a skit and then explaining the students about the concept was an innovative effort. Overall the legal awareness was a success as it has achieved its aim of spreading knowledge regarding child abuse among children.
