CIPR 2026 – National Conference on Legal Challenges in IPR
Saveetha School of Law successfully organised CIPR 2026 – National Conference on “Legal Challenges in IPR: Innovation, Public Health and Sustainable Development – Future Perspectives” on 22 August 2026. The conference provided a significant academic platform for academicians, legal professionals, researchers and students to deliberate upon contemporary developments and emerging challenges in Intellectual Property Rights, particularly in the context of technological innovation, Artificial Intelligence, public health and sustainable development.
The conference was coordinated by Dr. Aswathy Prakash G, Associate Professor; Dr. S. Thangamayan, Associate Professor; and Ms. Esther V, Research Scholar, Saveetha School of Law. The programme featured 70 research papers presented across five technical sessions in both offline and online modes, providing researchers and scholars an opportunity to present their work, receive academic feedback and engage with experts.
The conference featured distinguished resource persons who enriched the deliberations through diverse academic perspectives. Dr. M. Sunil Gladson, Associate Professor & UG Director, Intellectual Property Law, The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Chennai, highlighted the evolving relationship between IPR, innovation, Artificial Intelligence, public health and sustainable development, with particular emphasis on balancing intellectual property protection with public interest.
Dr. P. Brinda, Associate Professor & Head of the Department of Property Law, The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Chennai, offered a doctrinal perspective on ownership, control, exploitation and enforcement of intellectual property, while emphasising legal interpretation and judicial development.
Dr. Anuttama Ghose, Associate Professor of Intellectual Property Law, Vinayaka Mission’s Law School, VMRF (DU), Chennai, emphasised interdisciplinary and forward-looking approaches to IPR research, particularly concerning technology, innovation, competition and public welfare.
Dr. Ujwal Nandekar, Assistant Professor, Symbiosis Law School, Pune, Symbiosis International University, addressed the changing legal environment surrounding IPR, enforcement challenges and the need for legal frameworks capable of anticipating emerging technological and commercial developments.
Dr. Suganya Sundara Moorthy, Assistant Professor (SG), Intellectual Property Law, SRM School of Law, Chennai, contributed to the academic deliberations in Technical Session II, which also incorporated a valuable practitioner perspective through Ms. Parvathy Prasannan, IP Attorney & Partner, Puthran & Associates. Their participation strengthened the connection between IPR scholarship and professional practice.
The conference concluded with meaningful academic exchange, research engagement and professional interaction, reinforcing the importance of progressive IPR frameworks responsive to innovation, public interest and sustainable development.
