Awareness Session on the functionaries under the POSH Act
On May 10th, the POSH Cell of SIMATS organised an awareness session on the functionaries under the POSH Act, along with a skit performed by students of Saveetha School of Law. The program was specifically designed for students of Saveetha School of Nursing to educate them on the importance of the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act in their workplace.
The event began with an introduction to the POSH Act by a representative of the POSH Cell. They explained the key provisions of the act and how it aims to create a safe and healthy work environment for women. They also discussed the role and responsibilities of the functionaries under the act, including the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), Local Complaints Committee (LCC), and the employers. After the informative session, the students of Saveetha School of Law performed a skit that highlighted the importance of reporting incidents of sexual harassment in the workplace. The skit showcased the process of filing a complaint and the support that is available to the victims of harassment. It emphasized the need for bystanders to be supportive and play a role in preventing sexual harassment. The skit was well-received by the audience, and it helped to create a better understanding of the POSH Act and the process of filing a complaint. The students of Saveetha School of Nursing were able to see how important it is to report any incident of harassment, and they were empowered to take action if they ever witnessed any form of harassment in their workplace.
