Educational Visit – Green Consumerism - Gramathil Oru Naal, Irumbuli Village – 10.05.2023

Saveetha School of Law, Department of Mangement Studies organised educational visit to Gramathil Oru Naal, Irumbuli Village on 10.05.2023. This visit helped the students to understand about green consumerism in a better way. This educational visit was organised by Dr. Sreeya B, Mr. Gautham S and Ms. Aruna A R with student coordinator Muthukalanidhi and 57 students. 

The day started with bullock cart ride and welcome music with traditional KumKum. They served Niru Moru drink (buttermilk) for hot summer. Then the students were involved in various activities such as pumpset water ride, vazukku maram (pole climbing), uri adithal, kaabadi, seru uluthal, nattu nattal, pottery making, organic farming, thotil kulliyal, undikol vilayatu, tyre otuthal, pot balancing, kollattam, etc. They also ragi porridge (kulu) and prepared lunch without polluting the environment. Our students evidenced all the activities in a village and been part of all activities enthusiastically. 

Our students were served with rich lunch by villagers such as samabra Rice with two types of side dish (kuttu) and vegetables fry ( salt, sakkarai Pongal, white rice, sambar, kirai kuttu, vegetables fry , moru , vatha kozlambu, appalam, payasam), natu kozhi briyani with (white rice, raitha, non veg gravy, appalam, sakkarai Pongal, boiled egg, fish fry and Parupu payasam). After lunch they served banana and betel leaves with paaku. Our students understood the importance of food that is given in a village with our tradition and culture. 

That evening again they served Sukumali coffee with karuppu mookadalai (Kala Chenna). It relieves our tiredness and it also clears our headache and stays away from cold and cough after so much water activities. 

The whole day was full of learning with activities. Our students understood that packaging, preparation, process everything can be done without polluting our environment. They came across various eco friendly items that can be used on daily basis. Even some students got interests in organic farming. This educational visit was more meaningful with lots of learning.
