A special lecture on “Cyber crime and its classification” was conducted by Mr.Anand., Assistant Professor, School of Excellence in Law, TNDALU.He started with the concept of cyberspace, And the importance of cyber law and cybercrime. Further he discussed on classification of crime in India along with the leading case laws with made the students to have a interactive session so that it easy to connect the crime to real world instances. He concluded with the necessity to enact legislation that will sufficiently prohibit the abuses of new and developing technology. The speed with which technology develops makes this a continual concern. In some cases, the line between what will be considered criminal conduct and what will be civil remains uncertain.

The special lecture was delivered by Mrs.Premasangeetha , Guest Lecturer of Govt Law College , Villupuram on the topic " Specific relief Act and Quasi contract". She has explained about all the remedies under specific Relief Act for persons whose civil or contractual rights have been violated and fictional contract recognised by a court under Quasi contract. She has given a recent examples with all these aspects and what are the keys points have to be taken while writing for exams with regarding to specific relief act and quasi contract. The session was more informative and the students got benefitted . Finally it had ended with interaction.

He has four years experience of teaching line above said institution as will as six years of practicing an Advocate of High Court and lower courts. Registration and Dissolution of Firm- Indian partnership Act 1932

The special lecture on contract 2 on 01-08-2019 was based on the PARTNERSHIP ACT , 1932with regarding to “REGISTRATION AND DISSOLUTION OF FIRM”. This lecture was mainly to interact the students with different perspectives on partnership Act and relevant with current scenario. She also covered the major topics under that Act which is general definitions, basic essentials of partnership , different kinds of partners, the minimum and maximum requirements of partners in different sectors, joint stock companies, doctrine of holding out , duties and retirements of parties. Each topic was explained with famous landmark judgments like Kasam vs Commissioner of income tax, Chhedilal vs C.I.T, Mallow march & Co vs Court of wards, Meenaskshi Achi vs P.S.M.S chettiar , Scarf vs Jardine. The session was more interactive session and students would have explored new things. This lecture especially helpful for the students who were interested in the field of business as well for budding entrepreneurs. She also cleared their queries at the end of the session. Hope it was interesting as well as an interactive session with students.

A special lecture on " Application of functions of management in sales department with particualr reference to Annai Food Products, Chennai" was orgainsed on 1st August,2019. Mr.E.Arivoli, Senior Sales Manager of Annai Food Products was invited as a resource person.With his vast experience in marketing and sales, he expalined how the orgainsation plans and orgainse the necessary facilities and how the authority and resposiblity are delegated and fixed. he also explained the necessary staff are recurited and the way in which the works are co-ordinated for smooth functioning of organisation. Further he explained the importance of communication and alos controlling. Preparation sales budget and fixing sales target are also were explained in detail. The lecture class helped the students to understand the subject in organisational context. During the interaction session students asked questions and the resource person replied at most thentire satisfaction of students. The session was very useful to the students.

Panel discussion on Union Budget - 2019

On 31st July, 2019, Saveetha School of Law organised a panel discussion on the Union Budget 2019 that was rolled out by the First Full Time Women Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman on July 5, 2019. Mrs. Revathi Raghumathan, Mr. Raam Vairavan and Mr. Divakar Vijayasarathy formed the expert panelists while Dr. Deepak Swaminathan was the moderator. Students of SSL were also invited to be a part of the panel discussion. Sadhana, Leelesh Sundaram, Sandesh Saravanan and Shanthilal formed student panelists. A clear glance of the budget was provided by Mr. Raam Vairavan who touched upon budget deficit, interests on payment and briefed the audience regarding the importance of a budget. The recent National Educational Policy was also examined by Mrs. Revathi who highlighted the fact that India is moving towards a more research oriented approach rather than the traditional classroom system to obtain knowledge. The clear gap between knowledge and skill was elucidated by Mr. Divakar. Sandesh and Leelesh were given a chance to express their perspectives of the Youth of India in relation to the budget. The fact that India is the youngest country and shall have the young minds raking over in future could not have been more aptly put forth by them. No discussion is complete without giving due credit to the women of our country. Nari Tu Narayani, the popular phrase was aptly justified by Sadhana and Mrs. Revathi. India is now moving towards digitalization. This was addressed by Shanthilal who touched upon Adhar card and bank transfer. He also focused on how the budget has facilitated this digital transformation. Dr. Deepak moderated the discussion with a touch of humor which kept it light and sparked the interest of the audience. Chennai (July 27, 2019)-Saveetha School of Law, SIMATS is organized its Decennial Year Celebrations on July 27, 2019 at M. M. Convention Centre, Saveetha Dental College Campus. Also an alumnus meet held on the same day.

Dr. N. M. Veeraiyan, Founder and Chancellor, SIMATS has presided over the function. Hon’ble Thiru. Justice M. S. Ramesh, Judge, Madras High Court was the Guest of Honor for the occasion. Honorable dignitaries Dr. Deepak Nallaswamy, Director of Academics, SIMATS, Prof. Dr. Rakesh Kumar Sharma, Vice Chancellor, SIMATS and Dr. Thiagarajan V., Registrar, SIMATS, also on dais.

Prof. Dr. Rakesh Kumar Sharma, Vice Chancellor, SIMATS welcomed the honorable chief guests and gathering. Guest of Honor Thiru. Justice M. S. Ramesh, Judge, Madras High Court launched the logo of Decennial year. Dr.Asha Sundaram, Principal Saveetha school of Law Presented the journey of SSL, with the preceded by screening of a documentary on the historic journey of the college. Dr.N.M. Veeraiyan, Founder and Chancellor, SIMATS presented the special address, he highlighted the activities and individual achievements of faculties in these decade of years. He made detailed presentation on the ecological changes that have taken place in SSL also he noted contribution of the former faculty members of the college. Speaking on the occasion, Guest of Honor Thiru. Justice M. S. Ramesh, Judge, Madras High Court, recollected illustrious experience of his life and exhorted the young graduates to pursue higher education and research. He told them to understand the value of Law and need to remain legal profession also he insisted his admiration towards passed out students of SSL who all practicing. Dr. Deepak Nallaswamy, Director of Academics, SIMATS, added identification of SSL, during his address, he reiterated the role of the college and developing it personality. 

Honorable Thiru. Justice M. S. Ramesh, Judge, Madras High Court, presented awards to academicians and students who had achieved laurels and several areas of academics and extra curriculum activities. Members of administrative and best performers were also felicitated for various achievements and their contribution to the institution. 

The panelists include well known personalities were there for Word of Blessings, Hon’ble Thiru. Justice M. Jaichandren, Hon’ble Thiru. Justice R. S. Ramanathan, Hon’ble Thiru. Justice M. Social Outreach Program

It took Buddha seeing the infirm and the old to learn about inequalities, the Social Outreach Program on 26th July, 2019 organised by the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Saveetha School of Law was certainly an eye opener for the students. It is one thing to read about class inequality theoretically, and another to witness the human soul thriving in distress. The people of Jutkapuram,Walltax Road responded to the students' activities and performances enthusiastically, and were a pleasure to interact with. The skit and mime were well received, and the awareness campaigns were appreciated.the students also provided the note book,dictionary and etc to that people. The one-to-one interaction session was immensely enjoyable and informative, and we found the people to be clearly expressive and intelligent. We learnt that appearances are deceptive, and that clothes do not make the man. We visited the near Elephant gate C2 Police station and the inspector interacted with us, giving us awareness on various topics. Overall, it was a very memorable and informative experience, and we thoroughly relished it.

British Council Future Leaders Connect Final Heats held at Saveetha

Saveetha School of Law, Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences (SIMATS) hosted BC Future Leaders Connect Final Heats at SIMATS Poonamallee campus on 25th July, 2019. The judges of the programme were Dr. Rakesh Kumar Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, SIMATS, Ms. Janaka Pushpanathan, Director British Council, South India, Mr. Ravi, Editor-in-chief, The Hindu, and Gaurav Somwanshi, BC Future Leaders Connect Winner 2018. Last year BC Future Leaders Connect was organised in Delhi.

SIMATS Chancellor Dr. N.M. Veeraiyan said that this "BC FLC Final Heats 2019 programme at Saveetha will be beginning for more collaborations with British Council." Vice Chancellor of SIMATS, Dr. Rakesh Kumar Sharma said that " new ideas to upgrade the policies presented by the finalists were inspiring." 

Eleven finalist from Mumbai, Ranchi, New Delhi, Bangalore, Lucknow and Srinagar presented their ideas. Thousands of SIMATSians attended and few posted questions after each presentation. Based on Audience Polling, "Favourite Contestant" was recognised.

The winners of British Council Future Leaders Connect 2019 selected by panel of judges were Hasiba Begum, Kajri Babbar and Shambhavi Singh. Audience Favourite Contestant was Shreya Juneja. The winners get to travel to the UK for ten days of advanced policy and leadership development programme at Moller Institute, Churchill College, University of Cambridge.

Study Tour and Legal Awareness Camp

Saveetha school of Law organized an educational trip to Nilgiri, Kothagiri, Gudalur, Mudumalai for a legal awareness camp to study about the lifestyle of tribal people. The event was coordinated by MS. Anuradha, Assistant Professor, saveetha School of Law.

The students had an exposure to the tribal life style. The team visited places like kunjapanai, kozhikarai, Botanical garden surroundings, Tamizhaga Mandu, Periya Mandu, Pudhu Mandu, Gudalur, Tirichikkadi, Iduhutty, etc. Their community are being called as Scheduled tribe with different names like Badugas, Thodas, Kothas, Irulas, Kurulas, etc.

Students learnt about livelihood of the tribes in and around the area. They were also exposed to the educations, helath and nutritional aspects of the community. They also learnt that certain tribes have no access to education. Students had first hand exposure to the challenges faced by the community in matters of basic necessities like house, education, road facilities, electricity, water facilities etc. The banks have also denied providing them with the educational loans and agricultural loans.

Budding Entrepreneurs of Saveetha School of Law, 2019

Entrepreneurship Day was organized for the Entrepreneurship students at SSL campus on 10th May, 2019 . The students explored their business skills at SSL campus. Six different businesses were launched in the premises. The students’ start-ups were BOTANICAL HEAVEN (Load the Scene, Keep it Green), CRAFTASTIC (Carved with Love!), DIFA (Different in Fashion), FUN BLAST (Adds Fun to your Life),          MRS. MAGGIE & MR. GUDDU (Don’t get Slaggy, get our Maggie), and BONNE BOUCH CHENNAI (From our home... To your hearts...). The businesses had different products such as plants, aquarium, pencil carved art, CD art, sand art, handmade key chains, pastries, briyani, pani puri, maggie, egg varieties, sandwich, gulab jamun, lemon juice, jaljeera, and various fun games such as archery, sing in the rain, puzzle, etc. The sales were unbelievable so the start-up owners felt very happy. This motivated them a lot and their interest towards business took them to the next level. Based on the profit earned, the owners of Botanical Heaven business were awarded as ‘Best Entrepreneur’. The students got real time experience and good exposure towards business.

Tax Filings and Litigation

One day workshop on "Tax Filings and Litigation" was organised on 04.05.19 for the law students .More than 120 students had participated in the workshop. It was conducted as a two sessions. Resource person for the fist session was Mr.D.Hithesh , B.Com.F.C.A , Charted Accountant , Partner of PPN and Company , Nungambakkam , Chennai. He has professional experience of more than 10 years. He covered the various aspects pertaing to Advance Tax , TDS , IT Forms  and E-Filing Tax. Especially , he delivered a lecture on practial aspects of maintaining the accounts and filing the Income tax return for Advocates. This session helped to the students to explore themselves in the filing of Income Tax returns.

 The  second session resource person was Mrs.T.V.Muthu Abirami , B.A, B.L(Hons), M.L., A.C.A. ,DIIT(ICAI) , Advocate , Highcourt , Chennai. She has more the 5 years of professional experience and Visiting Lecturer at School of excellence in Law , Chennai. She delivered a lecture on Tax Litigation, Income Tax authorities , hireachy of Tax litigation with respect to appeal and all other procedural aspects of Tax case filing in the court. It was a very interactive session with students and resource person. The students had cleared their doubts regarding the litigation aspects of Tax.
