National Seminar On Contemporary Challenges In International Environmental Law With Special Reference To Sustainable Development Goals
Saveetha School of Law organised a National Seminar On Contemporary Challenges In International Environmental Law With Special Reference To Sustainable Development Goals on 9th August’2022. Dr. B. Suresh, Dr. Kannan D, Dr. Amirthalingam , Dr. Tenzin Jangchup Khampa were the key speakers of the seminar.
Dr. B. Suresh has spoken on the topic, “Sustainable Development Goals – A Need for an Interdisciplinary Approach”. He has extensively dealt with the sustainable utilization of the natural resources. He started with the meaning of sustainability and interacted with the students throughout the session. He also spoke extensively on the Triple Bottom Line, Triple P’s (People, Planet and Profit) and Triple E’s (Economy, Environment and Equity). He concluded by advising the audience to not to accept any limits and stressed upon the factor that resource is not a condition for growth. Finally, he says that “Education has no limit and it is not one time limitation
Dr. Kannan D has spoken on the topic, “Achieving Sustainable Development Goals with Special Reference to Economic Factors”. His presentation aims to focus on SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth and it’s Challenging Issues. It discussed about Labour Rights, Safe and Secure Working Environment.
Dr. Tenzin Jangchup Khampa has spoken on the topic, “Environmental Resilience during Lockdown: Need for a Regulation to Protect Environment”. Dr. Khampa started the seminar with the meaning of resilience and pointing broadly how environment is maintaining such function, identity and structure through its capacity to transform.
