Session on "Direct Tax Compliance and Administration"

Sixty students from Saveetha School of Law visited the Income Tax Office, Chennai, 18/12/2025, to attend a three-hour workshop on the theme “Direct Tax Compliance and Administration.” The workshop was organised by Ms. S. Jayasaranya and Ms. G. Keerthana, Assistant Professors, Department of Business Law, Saveetha School of Law, in collaboration with the Income Tax Department, Chennai.

The first session was conducted by Mr. Saujanya Ranjan, IRS, Joint Commissioner of Income Tax, who spoke on “tax assessment procedures and the cost of compliance” providing valuable insights into the practical functioning of the tax system.

The second session was led by Mr. Karthik Dasari, IRS, Joint Commissioner of Income Tax, on investigation, search, and seizure in financial offences, where he explained the legal and procedural aspects involved in addressing tax-related violations.

Both sessions were highly interactive, enabling students to engage directly with the officers and gain substantial practical knowledge and real-world exposure to direct tax administration.
