Seminar on "Challenges in implementing legal provisions relate to minimum wages"

The Department of Labour Law, Saveetha School of Law, successfully organized a One-Day National Seminar on "Challenges in Implementing Legal Provisions Related to Minimum Wage in India" on January 31, 2025. The seminar aimed to foster discussions on the complexities of enforcing minimum wage laws in India, highlighting legal, socio-economic, and administrative challenges. The event was convened by Dr. K. S. Shoba Jasmin, Associate Professor, and co-convened by Dr. A. Kannan, Associate Dean (Admin). Distinguished guest speakers included Dr. Dhanya, Fellow Faculty from VV Giri National Labour Institute, Delhi, Dr. S. Lalitha, Assistant Professor from Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development, and Mrs. Deepa Nagarani, a writer and gender activist. The seminar provided a platform for legal scholars, policymakers, and practitioners to deliberate on the gaps in the existing wage regulation framework, the impact of enforcement mechanisms, and the role of stakeholders in ensuring fair wages. Through insightful discussions and expert perspectives, the seminar contributed significantly to the ongoing discourse on labor rights and the effective implementation of minimum wage laws in India.
