National seminar on “Legal issues in Business Administration” was organized by Dr. Sreeya B, Associate Professor, Ms. Aruna A.R., Assistant Professor and Mr. Gautham Shanmugam, Assistant Professor of Department of Management Studies, SSL in association with National Party Women Policies and Research Department on 13th August, 2022 at the SSL SEMINAR HALL. The national seminar started with the prayer song. Prof. Dr. Asha Sundaram, Principal, Saveetha School of Law delivered the welcome address and felicitated the dignitaries. The dignitaries on the dias were Dr. (HC) K.V. Omprakash, Dr. R. Gayatri Suresh, Prof. Dr. Asha Sundaram, Principal, SSL and Dr. Murugan Ramu, Head of the Department, Management Studies, SSL.

Dr. (HC) K.V. Omprakash, is a Corporate lawyer, Mediator and Arbitrator and Company Secretary by profession and focuses mainly on Corporate and Business legal advisory services. The inaugural address of Dr. Omprakash was mostly upon the comparison of legal profession in olden and recent days. His address also emphasized the need to know about the legal issues that can arise from owning a business and its administration. The vote of thanks was delivered by Mrs. Aruna. A. R., Assistant Professor, Department of Management Studies, Saveetha School of Law, SIMATS.

The next session started with the keynote address by Dr. (HC) K.V. Omprakash. Dr. (HC) K.V. Omprakash in his keynote address shared about entrepreneurship. His address covered mainly about 1st generation entrepreneurs, how one can identify themselves as different types of owners, and various types of business an entrepreneur can own. He also covered the emerging significance of intellectual property rights and various issues any business can face. Then, the keynote address was followed by Dr. R. Gayatri Suresh. She is an organized professional, educationist, writer, social activist, motivational speaker, media and political analyst with over 22 years of experience. She spoke about the current legal issues with live examples of day to day life. Her address emphasized on the importance of establishing National Judicial For Infrastructure Corporation. She also stated that the judiciary should have an authority over the State in insisting them to utilize the funds for infrastructural development and how the manipulating digital platforms should be used cautiously.

Students from various colleges such as Ethiraj College for Women, M.O.P.Vaishnav College, St. Peter’s Institute of Higher Education and Research, G.S.S. Jain College, Sriram Arts & Science College, St. Peter’s College of Engineering & Technology, Nehru College, Patrician Arts and Science College, SOEL and Soka Ikoda College for Women participated in the paper presentation. Dr. C. Evangeline has been the Jury Member for the paper presentation and selected the best papers.

The valedictory function commenced with the welcome address, which was delivered by Dr. Sreeya B, Associate Professor, Saveetha School of Law, SIMATS. Dr. Selvaraju, Associate Professor, Saveetha School of Law, SIMATS felicitated the chief guest Adv. A. V. Radhakrishnan, Founder, AVR Associates. He is a leading advocate practicing in the Hon’ble High Court of Judicature at Madras since 1987 for the past 34 years. He is also the Legal Advisor for many Banks & NBFCs and has handled many high value suits for various clients with a very good track record. The valedictory address was delivered by Adv. A. V. Radhakrishnan, he focused on the need and importance for ADR. Paper presentation medals and certificates were awarded to the participants. The vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Gautham Shanmugam, Assistant Professor, Saveetha School of Law, SIMATS. The national seminar came to an end with the National Anthem. On the whole, the national seminar was a grand success!
