NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON “UN @ 80: ACHIVEMENTS AND CHALLENGES”
A One Day National Conference on the theme “UN @80: Achievements and Challenges”, had been organized by the Department of International Law (with Prof. Dr. S. Pandiaraj as the Faculty Co-Ordinator) on the occasion of the 80th Anniversary of the United Nations.
The Morning Session saw Special Lectures delivered by two eminent scholars namely, Prof. Dr. M. Gandhi, Former Dean, VITSOL, Chennai and Dr. Aashita, Associate Professor, and Head, Centre for Women’s Studies, Pondicherry University. While the former spoke on the “Contribution of UN towards International Law Making”, the latter spoke on the “Work the UN in relation to Women”. In the Afternoon Session, Dr. Rajasekar, Head I/C, Department of Legal Studies, University of Madras had delivered a Special Lecture on “The Role of UN in relation to Self - Defence”.
All the lectures were comprehensive and insightful, and were well-received by the students. A lively Q and A session followed the lectures.
