Moot Court Workshop (29th - 31st, MAY 2024)

Saveetha School of Law hosted a three-day Moot Court workshop from May 29 to May 31, 2024. The event featured Mr. Gokul Narayan, Chief Operating Officer of the Asian School of Cyber Laws, Pune, as the Chief Resource Person and Speaker. He engaged students with an insightful overview of the importance of moot court, blending in entertaining highlights from his own professional life to maintain a lively atmosphere. Mr. Gokul continued with a comprehensive and engaging analysis of the moot problem, skillfully weaving theoretical, logical, and practical discussions into his presentation. His deep dive into the formulation of technology laws showcased various interpretative approaches, demonstrating his profound knowledge and captivating the audience with his expertise and passion.

The second day the workshop began with a detailed introduction to cyber law, covering fundamental concepts, current legal frameworks, and emerging trends. The speaker elucidated various aspects of cyber law, including privacy issues, cybercrime, and the legal implications of digital interactions. Participants were engaged through the analysis of a moot proposition provided by the speaker. The case law analysis highlighted the application of cyber law in real-world scenarios, demonstrating the legal challenges and resolutions in cases of data breaches, cyber fraud, and privacy concerns. Mr. Gokul also interpreted various sections of the Indian Penal Code and IT Act 2000, providing a comprehensive understanding of the legal landscape.

A significant portion of the 3rd day of the workshop was dedicated to exploring the role of artificial intelligence in legal practice. The speaker illustrated how AI can be leveraged to streamline legal research, automate routine tasks, and enhance decision-making processes. Specific tools and technologies were demonstrated, showcasing AI's potential to access and analyse vast amounts of legal data efficiently. Mr. Gokul provided practical tips on integrating AI into legal practice, including the use of AI-powered legal research platforms, predictive analytics for case outcomes, and automated compliance monitoring systems. These applications were presented as ways to improve accuracy, save time, and reduce the workload for legal professionals.
