Emergence of ADR in India - Skills Required for New Generation Practitioners

Ms. Priya Iyengar, Corporate Lawyer and Arbitrator, Compass Law Associates, was the guest lecturer for this webinar. The webinar was attended by almost 60 people. The session was started off by a welcome address by Mahima Makhija, followed by which Priya Ma’am appreciated the initiative taken by our college for encouraging learning in a different manner. She linked the growth of the History of ADR with the current scenario. She cited many examples and her personal experiences while explaining the objectives and types of ADR. She also suggested the participants to read and learn a lot about the field and she stressed that the learning should never stop. She also explained the skills in an elaborate manner, that a practitioner should possess. The participants then enthusiastically asked questions and Ms. Priya then concluded by saying that there is a lot of scope for ADR in the future and the new generations can excel in it with flying colours. Overall, the session was very informative and encouraging for us to continue to maintain the practice of reading and learning.
