The session included - Career prospects in Public Policy, Skills required and how to attain them, Step by step guide to make career in public policy and where to apply.
The career prospects with relation to policy making were pointed out to be three and they included Government sector jobs, private sector jobs and non- profit sector jobs.
With respect to skills required to make it in the career included strong knowledge of legal, political, social, economical and technological issues, communication skills, research and data collection and decision making ability. In order to attain these skills, it was suggested that attaining domain authority over a subject, research and drafting are really important.
The highlight of the session was that a step by step guide was delivered by the speaker to develop one’s career in policy making - choose a discipline, attain domain authority, Master degree, Building resume, internships at Public Policy Organisations/NGOs, Commenting on Policy, seeking opportunities.
