An overview on RTI

A special lecture on “An Overview of Right to Information Act was conducted. Transparency is the sine qua non of participatory democracy. Right to information as a fundamental right was developed through Judicial Interpretation and in 2005, The Right to Information Act , came into existence. The session highlighted the importance of right of the citizens to know about the functioning of the government under a democratic setup. RTI is thus a tool for participatory development. It strengthens governance and facilitates effective socio- economic services.
