National Webinar on Copyright Law

An expert lecture on Copyright Law on the topic “Limitations and Exceptions” was organised for postgraduate and undergraduate students of IPR. Prof. (Dr.) T. G. Agitha, Adjunct Faculty, Inter University Centre for IPR Studies, CUSAT (Retired Principal, Government Law College, Ernakulam) delivered the lecture. The lecture was aimed at providing the students with a public interest perspective on copyright. The resource person emphasized that the right to access to creative expressions is part of the fundamental right to freedom of expression and thought and any monopoly over creative works in the form of copyright is subject to the fundamental right of human beings. She discussed the major types of limitations and exceptions present in the Indian Copyright Act and elaborated on the adequacy of such provisions to address the concerns raised
