Lock-down has made people a little more aware of the extent of the damage that has been inflicted on the environment. An initiative spearheaded by Aarthy.G, Assistant Professor, Saveetha School of Law, in the name of Chennai Coastal Cleanup (CCC) campaign volunteered by the students of Saveetha School of Law Boomika imayavarthini.T, Rohith K.B, BHARATH.P, T.S.VIGNESHWARAN, EUREKA SRI, Anakha S J, Yogesh.S, Subaja, Jobin, Suryaprakash.J, Sam kishore, Arunachalam.P are trying to nullify the damage that plastic waste has been subjecting our coastlines.

The clean up drive started across Akarai Beach, ECR around 07.00 am on 18.03.2021.“We hope to inspire people to keep our coasts and waters clean, through proper waste management and disposal. Chennai has some picturesque coastal spaces, which needs to be protected and maintained on a regular basis,” said Ms. Aarthy.G

Coastal cities like Chennai have long used the sea as a garbage dump, but in recent years the city’s spiking population has seen vast amounts of trash finding its way to the beach from the sea.

“Our ultimate goal is to raise awareness on the impact of the ever-growing garbage footprint on the environment. Further to this, we are pro actively working on finding solutions for proper waste segregation and maintaining clean shores” We are planning to organise weekly clean-up drives. “There is no dependence on anyone or the need to wait for things to happen,” she adds.

If each one of us consciously take small steps towards saving our environment, we would be able to save not just our oceans but safeguard the earth for coming generations.

The three-day All India Moot Court Competition 2021 organised by Dr. Ambedkar govt law college, Pudhucherry under the aegis of National Human Rights Commission, New Delhi.

The three-member team from Saveetha School of Law, Chennai, represented by Suba Yoga. S, Madhu Balaaji. S and Rangeela. R. P was declared as the WINNER of the competition and Additionally Madhu Balaaji. S won the BEST MALE COUNSEL award and a cash prize of ₹2500.

The team secured the Top position in the Prelims out of 27 teams by securing 610 marks. The team faced GLC Madurai in quarters and qualified to semis in knockout again with the Top score out of 8 quarterfinal teams. In Semi finals the team faced KLE society's law college and qualified to finals in knock out again by scoring the highest mark out of 4 semi final teams.

The finals was adjudged by Hon’ble Justice. G.R. Swaminathan, Judge, Madras High Court, Hon’ble Justice. B. Pugazhendhi, Judge, Madras High Court and Prof. Dr. Vijay kumar, Vice Chancellor, NLSIU Bhopal presented the winning trophy. The trophy carried a cash prize of ₹30,000.

Students of Saveetha School of Law have excelled in the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission Civil-Judge Exam 2020, Three Students from the school placed in the top 10 merit list – Mr. Sunil Vinodh SA (Rank 1, age 26), Ms. Sanmiha L (Rank 5, age 23) and Mr. Hariharasudhan J (Rank 10, age 23). Other successful students of Saveetha School of Law are Mr. M.Vijay Rajkumar, Ms. Suganya Sri and Ms. Sharmila.

Women’s day programme organised by Women Empowerment Cell, Saveetha law School on 08.03.2021

The commencement of the beautiful occasion began with the Principal Madam welcoming the Chief Guests, Dr. Reddivari Revathi, Professor TNDALU, SOEL, Dr. Gomathi Senthilkumar, Legal Head South India, VGP, and RT Shyamala, Senior Advocate which was followed by Special Women’s Day Moot Court Competition Final round. Followed by the Moot, Principal Madam felicitated the Chief Guests. Further to this, while the discussion of the panel was going on, in order to choose the winning team of the Moot Court Competition, the photographs that were shot by our students based on the theme “ Everyday she inspires me” was displayed for selecting the winners and runners of the Special Women’s Day Photography Competition.

Followed by which the Chief guests graced the occasion with their valuable words of wisdom. The Chief Guests, unique in their own ways beautifully explained this year's International Women's Day theme “ChooseToChallenge”

Enlightenment filled the room by the versatile speech given by the Chief Guests.

The Programme ended with distribution of trophy’s to the Winners and Runners of both Moot Court, Photography Competition and Special Multi Moot Competition.

The beautiful day concluded with Vote of Thanks.

Saveetha School of Law organized “MEET and GREET” with the Chancellor, Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences Dr. N.M. Veeraiyan to create an opportunity to the youngest members of SSL family to meet the Founder Chancellor on 27th February, 2021. It is a memory to cherish to the first year students to meet the great man behind the success of enormous students in their career. To make the event as a meaningful one the Enviro Club of Saveetha School of Law joined hands with the first year students and arranged a Miyawaki Plantation Drive on the same day to serve the society by reducing the carbon foot print and helping for bio-diversity retention. Dr. Asha Sundaram, Principal of Saveetha School of Law welcomed the gathering and introduced the Miyawaki Plantation Drive of SSL. The Chancellor addressed the gathering and graciously accepted the greetings from the youngest fleet of SSL. Pro-Chancellor of SIMATS Dr. Saveetha Rajesh, Director Dr. Rajesh and Dr. Jayaraman, University of Pittsburgh also graced the occasion with their presence, planted a sapling and took part in the plantation drive. The event was successful with the blessings and support of Director of Academics, SIMATS Dr. Deepak Nallaswamy. Webinar on CSR Models in India: An overview, was having the Resource person as Mr. Christopher Jeyaraj.K, Project head at Zion research and consultants. The resource person explained about the corporate social responsibility, approaches in corporate social responsibility, TBL (Triple Bottom Line) Approach of CSR, the social license in corporate social responsibility, Evolution in India, CSR spending in India-An Birds Eye View, and explained about the CSR financial details for the year 2019-2020, and then he explained about CSR initiatives undertaken by the companies in India, Ministry of corporate affairs and corporate governance, CSR compliance, Functions of CSR committee, CSR compliance-Financial reporting to MCA, Benefits of CSR these are things he explained about and concluded by stating that CSR is a unified blend of policies, processes and the Society In which the business operates , as to, the way in which companies self regulate the business processes.

M.AJITH KUMAR M.B.B.S., he works as an doctor.

He covered the topic on the procedure followed in motor vehicle accident. He gave an introduction on Trauma and explained about the types in it. He explained about what are the procedure done in primary survey and secondary survey. He also explained different procedures done in assessing an traumatic patient and what are the diagnostics used in it.

He finally concluded with safety measures and steps to be done when an accident happens.

Webinar on Behavioral adaptions in Business and Management was having the Resource person as Mrs. Rajeshwari T who holds a 8 years of experience in the Department of Business and Marketing.

The resource person explained about the Behavioral adaptions in the marketing industry. She explained about the Adaptions that people should make in day to day in the marketing industry.

Furthermore, she also explained laws regarding the company, shareholders and various rights of the director. This topic holds high importance since the community is moving towards the working environment it is essential to know about the company affairs.

She also explained about the internal and external affairs of the company with various illustrations cases and also issues relating to the corporate governance. The webinar is very informative and useful for the Students who are interested in company and business management.

Dr. Rooyah Shakthi Venkataramanan was the resource person of the Webinar on Consent and medical negligence. She has been practicing Medicine since 2015. I have worked in various set up such as Primary Health Centers - a way to reach out to the Rural Population, Corporate Hospital and my latest stint was with Apollo Shine Foundation. Through Shine Foundation, we have reached the student population at various schools and colleges to do primary level screening and guide them for good health by counselling on various aspects. Currently I am pursuing post graduation in Emergency Medicine with Royal College of London.

The resource person explained the importance of consent in the medical field . She gave a brief understanding of consent types. The rules which exist with regard to consent. She explained about the various consents at different instant like normal courses, in a serious scenario of the patient, how it's been handled by the doctors with the patient. She also explained the concept of medical negligence. She as a doctor explained about the legal provision with regard to consent in IPC, CrPc.

The webinar on this topic gave guests to understand the importance of their rights as patients in the hospital and their rights with regard to consent. The need to understand the right to consent in today’s world as a patient is important in today’s medical threat.

Webinar was on the topic Role of Judiciary in Environmental Protection and the speaker was Mr. S. Jim Raj Milton is currently working as an advocate.

Starting off the webinar the resource person explained about environmental protection and the need to protect the environment in this present circumstances where he paved us the way to how the judiciary plays a major role in protecting the environment. Where he discussed the key points of the various declarations that were undertaken by Indian Government and also he discussed a few Case Laws relating to the propounded judgements that supported the part of environmental protection. During the webinar he also covered all the topics and roles that are performed by the Indian Government in protecting the environment for a better future.

This topic holds high importance as it dealt with the present steps that were taken in hands of the government to protect the environment.

Mr. Dhilipan M.Sc.,M.Ed., is the speaker of the webinar he works in Sericulture department.

He covered the topic on the development of silk industry in India. He explained about symbols of original silk and the method of finding the original silk. He started the discussion with the starting process of sericulture from the worms till the weaving of silks along with the clarification of sericulture development. He explained the struggles of sericulture and needs for the sericulture and also he covered his daily work of inspection. He shared lots of pictures and shared the video regarding the sericulture and the development process in the industrial sector.

For this modern period products which are sold are not pure thus any fault or any materials is not original we can approach the consumer forum for relief thus this session is to create an awareness to the people that they can approach forum and we as a law students must give awareness to the people that they have legal remedies for the products also which they buy for code as the main motive of the session. He finally clarified doubts of the students who attended webinar and the session was ended with vote of thanks.

Resource person of the Webinar on Empirical Research Ethics was Dr. Vaishnavi who holds a PhD in Human Genetics and Human trials. She is an acclaimed empirical researcher who is also panel researcher in various grant oriented projects .

The resource person explained the meaning of empirical research and processes of doing an empirical research in her own way. She also explained about the importance of empirical research. Further she explained about the ethical values to be followed while conducting empirical research, and also about informed consent and privacy of parties participating in the research.

This webinar holds a high value because every student who performs an empirical study needs to know the nuances involved in it and also need to be bound by ethics and morals to give a better result accepted by all.

T.Mekala B.Sc., B.Ed., she is working as an officer in PWD (Public work department).

she covered the topic on the Indian protection system and it's development. She gave an introduction on the Public work under the Government sector and explained about the works in the Public department. She explained her daily work and clarified the doubts regards the misconceptions on the Public Work department. She started up with the procedure of filing of any work and quotations and the method of selecting the projects regards the public work. She covered the terms used in PWD department and the criteria referred to consider on the approval of the project.

She Thought about the PWD works and the Indian system in public welfare which came to empower the welfare of the society. She also explained about the tender and about the tax paid to the government. She finally concluded with the Indian system in Public work.

Webinar on Industrial dispute Act, 1947 had the Resource person as Mrs. Soundari chandrasekar who is a graduate of MA.,ML., In Ambedkar law university, Chennai, Labour law and has 26 years experience. In this session the speaker discussed widely on labour law. First there was an introduction on what is labour law. Then she started with the legislation and gave us explanations on the important provisions like strike, compensation, disability. The speaker gave a detailed explanation on Retrenchment and covered all other minor acts too. She spiced up her lecture with live incidents and her own cases.

This topic has huge importance because a large proportion of the population in this world are labourers. Both the employer and employee should be aware of their laws.

Webinar was conducted on Intellectual property especially on Patent ,Trademark and Copyright through social media . The resource person Mr S .Chinnasamy, Who is a practicing advocate in madras high court. Here the speaker first explained about what is intellectual property and how it can be used in the court . Then he precisely explained about the Trademark , Patent and copyright he also explained the importance and objectives of trademark patent and copyright . He also explained about his experience in those cases and how he practically implemented in these type of cases . The session was very informative and insightful as it has given the audience the importance of intellectual protection in daily life and career growth . The speaker has covered all the important concepts of Trademark , Patent and copyright and also gave examples of current trends in IPR . The session has enlightened and was useful for the students who liked to pursue their career in Intellectual Property Law.

Webinar on Managing post Pandemic stress was having the Resource person as Dr. Lokesh Sundaram who holds a Bachelor degree in Dental surgery and is also trained by WHO to treat and manage COVID-19 Pandemic in India .

The resource person explained about the mental stress to be incurred by individuals after Pandemic and the right way to manage them. He explained about the extent of adverse psychological impact of the Pandemic too. During the course of the webinar he elucidated the importance of yoga and self introspection in the Pandemic for sound state of mind.
