The lecture started from the Indus river Commission headed by Sri. B.N. Rau. this commission enunciated the Principle of equitable apportionment to be applied in the settlement of inter-state water disputes. then "Helsnik Rule" was explained which was adopted by the International law Association at its 52nd conference held in 1966 at Helsniki, Finland. Further Sankaria Commission recommendation with regards to Inter-State River Water Disputes was narrated. The lecture was concluded by giving special reference to the Inter-State River Water Dispute Act, in India 1956 and its amendment bill of 2019.

Special lecture on the topic “Working Capital Management" was delivered by K. Chiranjeevi Pavan Kiran, Executive, Hex-aware Technologies Limited. He has completed B.Com and MBA with specialisation in Finance and Human Resource Management . His role includes Project Management Office (PMO) for Banking and Financial Investment Vertical. He is involved in analysing of payment, managing the project and staffing of associates into projects.

The speaker started the session with the introduction to working capital with its meaning, formulae, types, cycle, time basis, pros and cons and its sources in an organisation setup. He explained various current assets and current liabilities by using various examples. The resource person also dealt with the sources of finance, its importance and listed the various sources of finance that is practically used in any business.

INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR ON THE ADMINISTRATION OF LAW and JUSTICE.

On 2rd March 2020 Saveetha School of Law, Centre for Criminal Justice Research (CCJR) has organised a one- day international seminar on the Administration of Law and Justice. Prof. Dr. Vasileios Adamidis, Professor and Principal Lecturer Nottingham Law School was the chief guest. The chief guest of the day, Prof. Dr. Vasileios Adamidis spoke on Aristotle’s idea of law and justice. He explained in detail the Nicomachaen ethics and the various dimensions of Justice. He spoke at length about distributive justice and narrated the dichotomy between justice in the sense of proportionality and justice in a narrower sense in terms of the telios. The session was well received by the impending jurists of SSL, who were spellbound by the appealing story of Tellus, the Athenian, who was hailed as the happiest man on earth. Dr. S. Anuja, Assistant Professor, TNNLU, Trichy, delivered the keynote address focusing on the various dimensions of law and justice. The distinguished guest of the day brought the role of collective morality and the effervescent conflict between the wisdom of man and wisdom of law. She resonated with Salmond's ideology of “just and righteous” nature of humans and the need for external force for the maintenance of an orderly society. The afternoon technical session was handled by Dr. A Raghunatha Reddy, Director in charge, Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Chennai. Dr. A Raghunatha Reddy highlighted law as a non static concept and he elaboraed it with the help of change of laws in recent times like decriminalisation of adultery, legalisation of same sex marriage, allowing women to enter into Sabarimala and the PuttaswamyJudgementrecognising right to privacy etc. He asked the students what is justice and opined that justice depends on the situation and there’s no one step that fits all definition. Justice and morality are inversely proportional to each other and evolves with the change in the collective wisdom of the society. The event concluded with a question and answer session and networking over high tea.

Make Intern.com ZONAL CHAMPIONSHIP Workshop Partner with Kshitij IIT Karagpur.

As Make Intern.com conducted a Training session on 21st and 22nd of February 2020 accompanying with ZONAL CHAMPIONSHIP Workshop Partner with Kshitij IIT Karagpur at Saveetha School of Law Seminar Hall , SIMATS. This is all about awareness of Law institutes and to give students Industrial Exposure. Main Agenda of this initiative is to give awareness to the students about the Future Scope of legal studies. Totally 60 students Participated in this Workshop.

This Workshop was coordinated by Mrs. Vidyassri S.P. (Head of the Business Law department) Asst Professor of Law, SSL, SIMATS.

The Resource person of this Workshop is Dr. Nipun Mudaliar (Trainer) who is the Corporate Lawyer with extensive experience of 12 Years in the Field of Contract Drafting and advisory works with respect to Corporate, Commercial, Banking and Insurance and other Legal Matters.

Initially the Trainer started with his training session on International Contract and Its Fundamental Elements of a Good Contract with several Illustrations with the Practical examples, later he moved on with the Differences between MOU, letter of Intent and its Conversion into a formal Contract, followed with techniques in drafting and formation of a contracts using the Power Point.

He touched upon the area of Negotiation of International Contracts and its planning, Conduct, and made the students to understand the need of negotiating Parties, moreover he taught us some of the Effective techniques in drafting International Commercial Contracts including the main area of Dispute Resolution Clauses & Mechanisms with the help of several handouts like NDA (Non Disclosure Agreements), Format with clauses and Requirements etc.

During The second day of the workshop, he had conducted two rounds of Competition: first Round is based on Written test with MCQs (Max Marks: 50) and the Second Test was based on Drafting an agreement of NDA with a specified situation (Max Marks: 30).

Students Participated in Full Zeal and Enthusiasm in taking up the tests rounds as the completition was very tough enough. The test Papers of both the rounds were been evaluated by the Resource Person itself and the Results has been declared by Dr. Nipun Mudaliar our esteemed Trainer. The Trainer was overawed by the efforts of our students of saveetha School of Law and Results were announced amidst tough competition. And totally 5 students out of 60 were been declared to be the successful eligible candidates to go for Finale round of Zonal championship would be held at Kshitij event IIT Kharagpur.

With this objective the Nottingham Law School offers a wide array of flexible study routes that prepare the students to excel in the  chosen speciality. The university's cutting edge research and practical training methodologies will stimulate the students with their unique work like experiences. 

 

Ms.VidhiSahae mooted the germane notion of Global summer school offered by NTU Global, which proffer two- week intensive credit bearing courses. These short term courses helps the students to focus on mini specialisations in the subjects of their interest. The session concluded with a question and answer session.

On 5th February, 2020 Saveethaschool of law has organized a special lecture on "Higher Education in UK for Law Students" in partnership with Queen Mary University London. The eminent speaker, Ms. Clare Burke, International Partnership Officer at Queen Mary University apprised the students about the various specialisations the law students can pursue in UK. She emphasized that the law specializations in UK are well recognized in India, which will give an additional buoyancy to law aspirants from India over others. She throw light on the procedural aspects of getting into a UK university, starting from the application process, drafting of SoP, Visa and scholarships etc. 

 

The session was exclusively attended by our 4th and 5th year students who were keen to know the nuances of LLM abroad process and law summer school programs offered by UK universities. The lecture concluded with a Q& A session on the various specializations that Queen Mary University is offering in the current academic year.
