Workshop on "Decoding and Applying Design thinking"

The two days workshop on "Decoding and Applying Design thinking" curated by Steam Troops, a pioneering learning solutions provider on 21st century skills took place on 9th and 10th of February 2023 at Saveetha School of Law organized by Department of Management Studies and Entrepreneurship Development Cell. The workshop was coordinated by Mr. Gautham Shanmugam, Dr. Sreeya B and Ms. Aruna A R. The main objective of the workshop was to impart an innovative mindset to approach the problems and bringing up the solutions. It enabled the students with the complete journey of how to bring their ideas to reality. This workshop acted as an eye opening to the students towards the world of Entrepreneurship. It also made the students understand that entrepreneurship is not only about startup and it is all about the skills that every leader should posses. The workshop had seen around 175 participants and 10 teams were hustling each other to grab the titles at the final day of the event. It had done its part to make students understand the importance of entrepreneurial skill and imparted the spark in each of us to start something on our own and succeed in the career. The workshop was designed by the innovative team of Steam Troops Innovation Labs Pvt Ltd. It is a startup company (recognized as a ‘Startup’ by DPIIT, Government of India) with a vision to transform the way students learn and inspire them to become Innovators. It is led by young professionals having common interest towards building homegrown Innovations. The resource persons of the workshop are Mr. Venkatasubramanian S S, Founder and CEO, Ms. Nishanthini R, Chief Operations Officer, Mr. Yogesh G, Products Lead, STEAM Troops Innovation Lab Pvt Ltd. The workshop has been divided into 4 parts where the first part concentrated on the Collaboration Skills of the students with the meticulously designed team activities. At the first day, we students were made to involve in following activities, ● Empathising the issue or problem on their own ● Defining the point of view statement of several problems ● Ideating the solution for the impactful problem from which they identified. Each session has been gamified with the introduction of the credits upon different criteria to the team. This made us participate more interactively throughout the workshop. The day 2 of the workshop started with much excitement as the first day was ended with the Brand research Challenge and we are waiting to get know our results. Following are the areas covered at the 2nd Day, ● The most crucial part of the entire workshop was started where each of us were started building the prototype of the Solutions that we ideated with the limited materials provided ● Each of us pitched our idea and marketed the Product and Brand to the entire audience. Each idea were judged and provided with the feedbacks to improvise. At the end, Best Performing team and Most Innovative team were awarded with the trophies. In overall, even the students who came without any meaning of entrepreneurship came out with a confidence to start something on their own. This workshop helped the students to understand the entrepreneurship and showed a path to succeed in their career.
