Saveetha School of Law Hosts National Seminar on ‘Decoding the Impact of GST on E-Commerce'

Saveetha School of Law (SSL) successfully organized a National Seminar on "Decoding the Impact of GST on E-Commerce: Challenges and Opportunities" on February 24, 2025, at the LASER COURT, SSL. The seminar featured esteemed guest speakers and provided a platform for students and academicians to gain deeper insights into the complexities of GST in the e-commerce sector.

The event commenced with an introductory session led by student head coordinators Aadhirai S. and V. Snehasudha. Their warm welcome set the stage for an engaging and informative seminar. This was followed by Ms. Logapriya T., Research Scholar, who felicitated the first guest speaker, Mr. D. Soundrarajapandian, former Joint Commissioner, Commercial Taxes Department, Tamil Nadu. In his session, he shared his vast expertise on GST, its implementation challenges, and the impact on e-commerce businesses. His deep knowledge and engaging approach captivated the audience, sparking a lively Q&A session with students.

The second session featured Mr. Sreemannaarayana Mallela,an experienced Tax Litigation Advocate practicing at the High Courts of Madras, Andhra Pradesh, and Maharashtra. He was felicitated by Dr. B. Lavaraju, Associate Professor at SSL. Mr. Mallela's session was highly interactive, as he moved through the audience, engaging with students and imparting valuable insights on tax litigation and compliance in the digital economy.

The final session was conducted by Dr. A. Suganthini,Assistant Professor, School of Law, VISTAS,and was felicitated by Dr. Frederick Ruby Helen, Assistant Professor, SSL. Dr. Suganthini's talk focused on the legal framework surrounding GST and International Trade Laws, shedding light on how taxation policies impact global e-commerce markets. Her expertise provided a comprehensive understanding of tax regulations and their evolving role in the digital era, making the session highly beneficial for students.

The seminar’s success was made possible by the guidance and support of Dr. Asha Sundaram, Principal, Saveetha School of Law, and the esteemed Founder and Chancellor of SIMATS, Dr. N.M. Veeraiyan.
