LEGAL AWARENESS CAMP

Awareness is the greatest agent of prevention and  change in society. The students of Saveetha school of law visited a government school in Chembarambakkam on 11/1/23 and tend to give a brief awareness on the topic  The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act on account of UNBAT BHARAT ABHIYAN. The students were split into 9 teams wherein each team consists of 3 members and were given different topics for presentation.

Team 1 - Necessity of POCSO ACT

Team 2 - Sexual Abuse of Child

Team 3 - Integrated Child protection schemes

Team 4 - Investigation process and Child protector

Team 5 - Sexual harassment under POCSO Act

Team 6 - Mandatory reporting

Team 7 -Primary consideration of child for harmonious development

Team 8 - Special preventive measures

Team 9 - Protection from hardship for the judicial process.

Sixth standard and above were engaged with the SSL teams in different sections and the SSL students  tended  to perform short roleplay and then were briefly explaining the respective topics and  had interactive sessions with the school students as in question and answer sessions . The school students enthusiastically participated and cooperated throughout the session. The session was insightful as in the school students were not much aware about how the POCSO ACT must be exercised in the society and its significance as to prevent the crime against children in society. It's never too late to learn and hence the awareness camp was a great success as the SSL teams tend to have given immense input on the POCSO ACT to the school students which would be of great use in the future.
