International Conference on “Financial Markets and Risk Management”

Department of Management Studies, Saveetha School of Law organized an International Conference on “Financial Markets and Risk Management” on 19thApril 2023. The conference was coordinated by Ms. Aruna A R and Dr. Sreeya B of Management Studies. Inaugural Ceremony started with Tamizh Thai Vaazhthu. The first session of the conference was addressed by the keynote speaker Mr. Jayachandran Purasawalkam, Director, Data, Analytics & AI Solutions, Cognizant, Columbus, Ohio, United States. The speaker gave audience insights about capital markets and how Data Analytics is revolutionizing the financial markets. In response to the queries from students about use of data analytics in legal arena, he explained about litigation analytics and the future scope and challenges of using AI techniques. The second session was addressed by Mr. Murthang Rengma, Financial Advisor, Durga TeaCompany,Malpani Complex, Bengenakhowa Golaghat, Assam. He addressed the students about the importance of financial statements, making wise investments and his experiences on meeting expectations of management with respect to risk and return. After the keynote addresses, the session started with paper presentations.

The Conference witnessed more than 175 participants from various colleges such as Patrician College of Arts and Science, St.Peter’s College of Engineering and Technology, Soka Ikeda Arts and Science College, Bharath Institute of Law, Sriram College Of Arts And Science, Dr.MGR University (School of Law), St. Joseph College of Arts and Science and St. Peter’s Institute of Higher Education and Research. Participants presented their papers relating to varied areas like financial literacy, investment patterns, insurance, Venture capital, etc., Papers were evaluated by  Dr. A. Manorselvi, Professor, Department of Commerce, SPIHER.

The Valedictory session of the conference started with welcome address by Ms.Aruna A. R., Assistant Professor, Saveetha School of Law. The chief guest for the Valedictory session was Smt. R S Isabella, Chairman and Managing Director, Repco Micro Finance Limited &Managing Director of Repco Bank (Govt. of India Enterprise).  During the valedictory address, the speaker covered the aspects of liquidity, inflation and various other risks while making investment and ways to minimize risk. She also stressed upon the importance of patience, hard work and perseverance in reaping the benefits on any investment. The guest congratulated and distributed certificates for Best Paper Presenters and also for other participants. The conference came to an end with the Vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Sreeya B., Associate Professor, Saveetha School of Law. Overall, the conference gave an opportunity for participants to broaden their investment knowledge, understand nuances of financial markets and manage risks related to their investment.
