CINE LEX CRITICA 2023, a legal movie review competition held on 27th July 2023
CINE LEX CRITICA 2023, a legal movie review competition was organized by the Department of Labour Law, in Saveetha School of Law on 27.07.23. This exceptional event embraces the fact that cinema is invariably abled to shape the normative structures of society, and so the competition is all about the relationship between cinema and the legal provisions involved in it. Cine Lex Critica, the event had a kickstart with the arrival of 18 teams comprising 36 participants from various law colleges in Tamil Nadu.
The competition is adjudged by Advocate Dhamodharan, a legal consultant and Nithya Rani, Assistant Legal Manager in Lyca Productions Private limited. Cine Lex Critica begins with the first round - # Pilot , where teams has presented their intensive research about certain popular legal films. Further, 9 teams entered into the Semifinals - # Second half. The spectators of Cine Lex Critica were on the edge of their seats for the most awaited results of the # Climax round. The round has the nail-biting clips where the finalists are expected to guess the legal provision that would be appropriate to the scene. As an essential step towards conserving the nature, plant samplings for all the participants and judges of Cine Lex Critica 2023 were sponsored by Environmental and Geo Spatial Solutions (EGSS)
Satheesh P and Mohanapriya M of Chennai Dr.Ambedkar Government College, Pudupakkam truly deserve to be the winners of the Cine Lex Critica with their astonishing capability of legal reasoning. Srinath and Nadella Kalpana, of School of Law, Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai proudly holds the runner up of Cine Lex Critica. And the best speaker of the event, Sneha Priya of Faculty of Law, Dr. MGR Educational and Research Institute, Chennai. Her unique ability to articulate in depth about the films and legal provisions impressed the spectators to the core. The Event was convened by Prof. Dr. Asha Sundaram, Principal, Saveetha School of Law and was organized by Mr. Arun Kumar. R and Ms. Manonmani. M, Assistant Professors, Saveetha School of Law. On the whole, Cine Lex Critica ends by leaving the audience intrigued about the application of law in films.
