On 11th October, 2019 a special lecture was conducted on " Information Technology Act and its subsequent amendments- including POCSO Act, 2002" at SSL seminar hall. Dr. Ranjit Oommen Abraham, Asst. Professor, School of Excellence, Dr. Ambedkar University, Chennai delivered the lecture. The speaker is an expert in Cyber Law and is a renowned speaker in cyber law conference and seminars. He's also a cyber law expert in the panel of faculties of TN judicial Services Academy.The speaker started with the origin of IT legislation in India starting from UNCITRAL model law and e- commerce. He explained in detail what's cyber crime and the factors leads to its phenomenal growth across the country. He cited leading case laws and real life incidents to throw light on different types of cybercrimes.He explained in detail the financial crimes happening in India with the help of Information Technology. He pointed out the technological vulnerabilities and loopholes in law that helps the criminals to escape from liability. He opined that Cyber law should bark less and bite more. He also touched upon the IPR violations at cyberspace and explained about the John Doe order and digital privacy in detail. The lecture concluded with a Q and A session where students actively participated.
