ARBITRATION - THE LAW AND PRACTICE

The resource person was “Mr. Adeesh Anto”, who is a practicing Advocate at Madras High Court. In the span of 20 years of his practice, he has expertise himself in drafting and litigation management, negotiating skills, and also communication skills. He has contributed his efforts in various reputed law firms like S.Ramasubramaniam & Associates, Kochhar & Co. and currently he is serving at SAP legal.

Adv. Adeesh Anto initially gave an historical insight about arbitration and how it is governed in the present era. Following this, he explained the purpose and need of arbitration in India. He then acknowledged the participants about the process and procedure of arbitration proceeding in detail and highlighted various segments of it, such as what matters can be arbitrated upon, the need of arbitration clause, who can be the parties to the arbitral proceedings, appointment of arbitrators, number of arbitrators, and the time span to conclude an arbitral proceedings. He also explained how the arbitration moves from pleadings, to framing of issues, to producing evidence, to arguments, to  passing of an arbitral award and finally enforcement of an arbitral award. The webinar on a whole was very informative and helpful for the participants to understand the subject of arbitration in India.
