THREE-DAY WORKSHOP ON “HOW TO ACE IN ADR COMPETITIONS?
The Centre for Criminal Justice Research (CCJR), Saveetha School of Law, organized a three-day workshop on “How to Ace in ADR Competitions?” from 16th to 18th December 2021. Mr. Akash Gupta, Lecturer, Jindal Global Law School was the resource person for the session. The speaker started the session by interacting with the students and sharing the relevance of Alternative Dispute Resolution in a country like India. The 1st day of the workshop concentrated on the fundamentals of ADR with snippets from the speaker’s own experience in VIS moot (east) in the year 2016. During the span of three days the workshop addressed the nuances of Arbitration, conciliation, mediation, and client counseling competitions. After each session quizzes were conducted which made the session livelier. The participants were apprised about the career and internship opportunities in ADR as well. During the workshop stimulation exercises such as mock mediation competition was conducted wherein the participants were divided into a team of parties and mediators. Mr. Akash Gupta gave useful feedback and suggestions to the students regarding their performance. The final day of the workshop glimpsed another mock arbitration by selected teams, which was adjudged by the resource person. The workshop was an eye-opener on Alternate Dispute Resolution for the participants.
The session ended with an interactive Q & A wherein the speakers cleared the doubts raised by the students. The session was attended by about 82 students and faculties.
