The Prevention of Sexual Harassment Cell of the Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences coordinated by Saveetha School of Law organised an awareness Programme on prevention of sexual harassment at Lines hall SIMATS for Saveetha School of engineering and Saveetha Engineering College students and faculties on 19th of April 2022. The three guest speakers where invited to deliver the lecture on the respective topics, Advocate Ms. Amudha Lakshmi delivered a lecture on “Enactments on Sexual Harassment and its application to current scenario”, Advocate Dr. Abinaya had given her super powering lecture on “POSHtivism” Sexual harassment - not a stigma anymore, Advocate Ms. Parvadhavardhini has delivered a lecture on Prevention and responding to sexual harassment at workplace. Participants had become fully conversant about the Acts and procedures laid down in it in preventing sexual harassment, that inbuilt mechanism of fairness in procedure under CCS(CCA) Rules, Principle of Natural Justice. The guest speakers also spoke about the genesis of Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 and judicial interventions, futher explained about traditional forms of sexual harassment, Quid pro Quo; Hostile work environment. Over 50 Plus students and faculties participated in the awareness programme.
