International Conference on “Space Law and Environment”
On 3rd January 2025. The Department of International Law organized a one-day International Conference on “Space Law and Environment”. Guest speakers are Ms. Deepika Jeyakodi (Lawyer, Spaceport Sarabhai, Spain). Dr. P. Sakthivel (Associate Professor/Director, LLB (Hons) TNDALU, Chennai. Prof Dr. Haritha Devi HOD i/c director, Research publications and Academic Affairs. In the first session Prof. Dr. Haritha Devi expressed views on Strengthening the legal framework for space environment protection involves enforcing international laws to address debris, resource exploitation, and sustainability, ensuring long-term space usability through responsible actions and enhanced treaties. Dr. P. Sakthivel expressed views on Key space law treaties, including the Outer Space Treaty, Moon Agreement, Rescue Agreement, Liability Convention, and Registration Convention, govern peaceful exploration, resource use, astronaut safety, damage liability, and transparency. Ms. Deepika Jeyakodi expressed views on Space law and the environment regulate human activities in space to prevent pollution, manage debris, and ensure sustainable exploration while protecting the space environment for future generations.
