On 02/02/2024, Mrs.U.Ragavee Head of Department of labour law organised Industrial visit to Pondy Agrochemical pvt.Ltd. A Group of 35 law students from Saveetha School of Law, Chennai explored an agrochemical industry, gaining valuable insights into the legal aspects of the agricultural sector. The visit aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical legal knowledge and practical industry applications. The process of manufacturing agrochemical industry whiteners for clothes typically involves combining bleaching agents, optical brighteners, and stabilisers. Raw materials undergo precise blending to achieve the desired whitening effect without causing harm to fabrics. Quality control ensures the product's effectiveness and safety for textile use. The final whitener is then packaged and distributed for incorporation into laundry detergents or as a standalone product, contributing to the brightening of clothes during washing. Our students created awareness to female workers regarding the benefits of Indian Maternity Benefit Act 1961 and also regarding the safety measures to be taken while handling hazardous substances and chemicals under The Factories Act, 1948. Students engaged with professionals, understanding the regulatory frameworks governing agrochemicals. This experiential learning opportunity equipped them with a nuanced understanding of the legal challenges and compliance requirements within the agrochemical sector.
