Importance of Data in Research

A Special Lecture on the topic “Importance of Data in Research” on 26th August, 2019 for the Slot D (LC2508) students was organized by Dr. Sreeya B. The Resource person of the session was Mr. Srivathsavan Iyengar, a Data scientist, Influencer, Plot Writer and Philanthropist. He was honored with the prestigious ‘Einstein Award of the year 2018’ by the World Youth Federation and awarded the ‘Best Student activist of the year 2016’ by the Computer Society of India. He is also a professionalism in hacking and other computer technical aspects. He started the lecture with an introduction on research and its types. A brief outline regarding cyber laws and cyber security was also given. The lecture was an eye opener over the effects of social media and other internet accesses. Mr. Srivathsavan has also insisted on the duplication of the research work and its effects over the person who has done the act. The content of the lecture includes the following. There are certain ethics to be followed in order to do the research work like not to steal the work, thesis and papers of others for which can be charged under the Intellectual Property Right. The Analysis has to be done on the prescribed software which does mathematical work over the collected data. The feedback is formatted by running through the software for which best example that can be given is the Hospitality Services and Restaurant Services. The research can also be based on the current issues that are based on Nuisance, Harassment, Dominance and other social discriminations. The lecture also covered over the present important cases like Former Finance Minister P. Chidambaram, Business Men like Vijay Mallya and Nirav Modi. He also spoke about the developments in information and communication technology. The session proved to be useful to the students as they gained lot of knowledge from the special lecture. It was also lively due to the resource person’s scintillating personality. The lecturer was highly interactive with the students which made the session worthwhile. At the end of the session, the students were given a chance to put forth their queries and doubts to the resource person. Overall, it was a great learning experience for the students as they got to interact with such an experienced person.
