CYBER CRIMES AND THE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ACT 2000

Resource person is Mr. Suresh. He completed his B. L, M. L and is practicing as an advocate in Chennai high court. He has experience of 15 years  . The webinar is on cyber crimes and information technology act 2000.

He explained the kinds of cyber crimes which occurs in the society. Cyber crimes are based on the electronic devices and he said it as traditional crime. He said cyber crimes are computer related crimes because it uses machineries or computer as a tool. He also explained about the phishing, spamming, viries, pornographic messages and sir gave illustrations to explain the kinds of cyber crimes and how the evidence can be collected through electric devices. He also covered almost all the important sections in the Information technology Act, 2000. He also explained section 66 of IT Act have struck down because it violates the Fundamental rights. He also stated Thupparivalan  movies as illustration to relate the cyber crimes.  He further explained about defamation and it is penalised under section 399 of Indian penal code . He also cited some cases such as

This topic holds high importance because the electronic offences have increased due to the dependence of electronic devices and how we can resolve the offences must be known to the students.
