Dr Deepamala is an experienced Social Development Professional with over 25 years of experience, heading departments, regional 

committees and handling large scale state level development projects from conceptualization to implementation. She is an action-oriented PhD scholar in Political Science from Gandhigram Rural Institute with her core specialization in the area of citizen Participation in governance, politics and development. Being an insightful scholar, she has authored a chapter in the United 

Nations University book titled- "Democracy in the south: participation, the state and the people”, published by the United 

Nations University Press, in New York, Tokyo and Paris, 2010. She has also authored reading materials on “Gender and Financial 

Inclusion” as part of the Gender Studies Curriculum for IGNOU. Prior to obtaining PhD in Political Science, she was a Quantum physics scholar and has also published papers in reputed international journals as part of her physics study. An expert in driving social agenda in organizations by facilitating 

multi-stakeholder engagements involving the state, industry, CBOs, CSOs and UN agencies, she has served as the Director and Head of Development Initiatives at Confederation of Indian Industry, Southern Region nearly a decade. She was appointed by Govt of Tamil Nadu as an Independent director in the board of Tamil Nadu Adi Dravida Housing Corporation.
