"A special lecture on ""Application of financial ratios in financial and managerial decisions in Corporates "" was organised on 1st November 2019. Dr.S.Tamilselvan, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, St.Thomos College of Arts and Science and also visiting faculty in Anna University, Chennai was invited as a resource person. He started the secession with asking questions relating to the topic in order to know the inquisitiveness of the students. He explained how the corporates face difficulties while taking rational decisions particularly financial decisions. He explained various accounting ratios that could be used as the basis for quick decision making. He concluded that” Ratio analysis helps to reveal, compare and interpret salient features of financial statements. When applied to a set of financial statements, financial ratios highlight significant aspects of the financial position and operational results of a business requiring further investigation. They help to identify the strengths and weaknesses of a business. In fact, ratio analysis helps to evaluate the past performance, the present condition, and the future prospects of a business. It enables us to ask the right questions about a business, and paves way to finding the useful answers. Such analysis therefore, aids planning, control, forecasting and decision- making” The secession was quit interacting and interesting and the students acquired knowledge which may be useful in their professional career..
