A webinar organised by N K Susruthan (student coordinator) and Ambika Bhat K S (faculty coordinator) on "The Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019 was conducted on 24th March 2021. The speaker was Dr Adhilakshmi Logamurthy, a practising lawyer in the High Court of Madras and a social activist. Dr Adhilakshmi talked about the definition and rights of transgender as given in the 2019 Act. She also discussed the discrimination and harassments faced by the transgender community in our society. She addressed the importance of the National Council for Transgender persons. The webinar helped the students in critically understanding the legislation and the inadequacies in its implementation.
