A webinar on ‘Legal Aspects of Forensic Odontology’ was conducted on 11/03/2021. The resource person was Dr.Gayathri Sathyamoorthy, a Prosthodontist. The speaker started the seminar by giving an introduction to the term Forensics and Odontology and explained the interconnection between these and law. She further elucidated the history of odontology as evidence in court, personal identification and also the basis of dental identification. In addition, the speaker also explained about the Post mortem and Ante Mortem reports and the need for such reports. She concluded by explaining the techniques of identification and elaborated on identification during times of mass disaster using sex differentiation and dental age estimation, the problems faced and the possible solutions for identification. This topic holds great importance as it brought light on the importance of forensic odontology as evidence in rendering justice.
